Vietnam Australia International School and Mekong Enterprise Fund II Partner to Empower Vietnam’s Future Generation

HO CHI MINH CITY, VIET NAM (23 March 2009) – Mekong Capital announced today that Mekong Enterprise Fund II, Ltd (“MEF II”) committed to invest of US$6,000,000 into Vietnam Australia International School (“VAS”).

Mr. Pham Tan Nghia, Chairman of VAS, said: “The strategic partnership with an international institution such as Mekong Capital will certainly enhance the overall management capability of VAS to the next level, and at the same time improve the quality of teaching and learning at our schools to match that of internationally recognized organizations.”

Expressing his enthusiasm about the investment, Dr. Thomas Lanyi, Mekong Capital’s Director of Investment, comments: “We are excited to partner with VAS, sharing a mutual commitment to contribute positively to Vietnam’s future generation. About Vietnam Australia International School

 VAS was founded in 2004 by Mr. Pham Tan Nghia. The Company owns and operates a chain of 12 schools ranging from Kindergarten to high school. All of their campuses are located in Ho Chi Minh City. VAS focuses on providing education to the rising number of middle class Vietnamese families in the South of Vietnam. At the end of 2009, their approximate enrollment was 5,000 students.

VAS conducts a bi-lingual curriculum. The Vietnamese curriculum is based on the guidelines of the Vietnam Ministry of Education. The English curriculum was developed internally leaning on successful programs from other countries such as Australia and the United States of America.
